Oh Christmas Tree!

Christmas really is the most wonderful time of the year. One of my favorite things about Christmas is decorating the tree! I absolutely love collecting & making ornaments! My poor little tree seems like it has nothing on it, but I wanted to share my favorite ornaments!

This ornament was given to Adam & myself by his parents christmas of 2009. This was our second christmas together. It was our first ornament that someone had given us since we became a couple, and I had just joined the fire department in April 2009. This ornament means so much to me!

My mother bought me this ornament Christmas of 2007, after a good friend of mine passed away earlier that year. Having this on my tree always reminds me that Megan is not only with me during the holiday season, but also every day of the year.

This ornament has no sentimental value like the first two. I just love how unique it is.

Though I cannot remember the year I received this ornament, it will always remind me of my true passion from high school, which was playing the clarinet.

Another unique, but not sentimental ornament. I believe Adam's grandmother gave this ornament to me.

This was an ornament that I made this year. This is clearly one of the easiest ways to make ornaments. Each one is different and unique.

Football was my other passion in high school. These ornaments were given to us on year. This one looks kind of rough because it was in a jacket pocket and it got washed! If you ask me, I think it gives the ornament a rustic character.

For now these ornaments are the only ones worth sharing. Plus I haven't been collecting my own ornaments for long. Some day my collection will be exactly what I want it to be.

30 Day Photo Challenge - Day One

I have always wanted to do a 30 Day Photo Challenge, and I figured that since I just bought my Canon Rebel, its time to do one.

Here is the challenge I chose

So apparently I'm not good at this...

Its almost been a year since I've posted on here. I so suck.

I plan to revamp the blog over the next few days, and I'm going to challenge myself to post everyday. I've got a few idea's on how to do this. Thank goodness I'm not under the same pressure most college students are under this week with finals. YAY for being a design student!

I'll be back after fire training, hopefully with a few blog updates.. and definitely a post!

Chairs.

I've been thinking about getting a chair to put in the corner of my room, something to read in.. at least thats my hopes.
I saw this nailhead chair on Country Door and really liked it, be decided not to just pick the first chair I see.

I also think I'm probably going to want a chair I can get completely lost in. So the McIntyre Chair and a half from Crate & Barrel would probably do the trick.

Thus far, these two are the only two that have caught my eye. But there is always thrifting, because these two where also rather pricey. So we will see.

Anyone else know of any really worth while chairs for me to check out?

Green with House Envy

Buying a house hadn't been a big priority in my near future plans, but that never stopped me from looking. So a few weeks ago, I was browsing around on Realtor.com at work, and ran across a 3 bedroom 1 bath house in Pewee Valley.

The even crazier thing is, Adam and I drive past this house from time to time, its only a few doors down from some friends of ours. Not to long after it went on the market we both said it was a cute little house. I'm all about the front porch, & Adam grew up in the neighborhood, and knew the man who lived there for a long time.

Once I found the house online, I fell. in. love. It is perfect.

The built-ins are SOO my favorite!!!

Like I said, I love everything about it. It really throws a wrench into the fact that I wasn't planning on buying a house anytime soon. Sigh.

crate&barrel

Crate & Barrel is an amazing website. Its offers a chic design feel, which I absolutely love. The best thing about C&B is that the prices are great!
I'm a real bed & bath sucker so of course I'm going to share my favorite objects from that area first!

So far those have been my favorite items I've found on C&B thus far. If you've noticed that there is a trend of blues, greens, and browns, its because I favor the cool and soothing effect that it brings to me. Reds, and yellows kind of make my head hurt.
Any who! On to other accessories such as pillows, rugs, lamps, ect.

I think all of these items are completely cool, and to die for! I can so picture A & my laptops sitting on either side of the bookshelf desk, his side stocked with books about fire fighting, and mine with all of my books from design school.

Hey a girl can have dreams right?

ps. I provided links to all of the items, so if you were just as intrigued by any of these items, as I was, go buy um! and of course explore c&b more! They've got great stuff over there, I've hardly done them justice with the things I've shown you here!

ps.two. My wall decals from Trading Phrases just arrived! I'm so excited! I will try to get them up today so I can share them with you!

Why Hello, Wallflowers

I've had my eye's set on these for a while, and now that I have them, and they are on the wall, I LOVE them!
Like I said why hello, wallflowers! I purchased these babies at Bed, Bath, & Beyond for the minimal price of $19.99, how could you pass that up?! They come in a pack of 25 in white, glossy black, and chrome.
The suggested hanging process slightly alarmed me. The box included a small bag of nails, the wall flowers snap onto the nail head once the nails are in the wall. I just couldn't fathom putting all of those holes in my walls.

So rather than poking 25 holes in my wall, I turned to my beloved Command Strips, which I literally use for EVERYTHING! As always they worked like a charm.

I didn't use these specific Command Strips, because these are the velcro kind. But you get the gist. The type that I used for this project was the double sided stick kind, and cut them into small piece's so they couldn't been seen from behind the flowers.

Before mounting these bad boys to the wall, I laid the flowers out on the floor to make sure I had a general idea of how I wanted them to look on the wall. Its always best to have a trial and error session before committing, and placing anything on your wall, especially if you decide to use the nails that come with something like this.

West Elm = LOVE

So I'm a sucker for contemporary/modern type design, and man oh man did West Elm suck me in. They display so many styles I love, its hard not to visit their site multiple times a week. Let me show you what keeps bringing me back for more!

Duvet Covers:

& my all time favorite Duvet cover I've seen on West Elm thus far.. I'll even give you the accessories that go along with this one!

YES, it even has the shower curtain and bath mat to match! Honestly I'm not as crazy about the bathroom items as I am about the bedroom items, but I just had to share.

Thats all for now, its time to head out to Bed Bath & Beyond with the mother. More to come later!

I will make progress

I haven't posted anything since I created this, & I'm not sure why.. but that's okay, because I've had a lot of inspiration lately. I've decided to use this as a place to display the things that I love so much, I want them in my own home.. whenever Adam and I buy our first home! & most likely an occasional posting about what I'm doing with the only space I'm free to update, our lake house! Sorry no good pictures as of right now, but oh is my mind a wandering with what I'm going to be doing to it come spring time!

Thanks to the amazing John & Sherry over at Young House Love for giving me encouragement to keep motivated and want to post on this everyday.
